Dynamic Page Orientation
Vishnupriya

hi,

Im new to BIRT reporting. I have a requirement where the report will be generated as PDF and the enduser can select the Page Orientation of the report through a home grown UI. Once the user selects a list of columns he wants to see in the generated report and Page orienenation of the report, the information is fed from UI to a standalone component that will generate the report using BIRT.

For this, i'm creating common components that can be packed as reusable components across different kinds of reports. While doing so, Im creating a common Master Page that will be put inside a library and used later in every rptdesign file. I set the Page Orientation of this Page to a specific setting like 'Letter Landscape' and use it in a report called test.rptdesign and add all report item components in it. If user chooses to run the report as 'Legal Landscape' how will BIRT engine handle this.

Will the Master page will be realigned to 'Legal Portrait' and all components shunk/expanded accordingly ?

Is there a way to handle such dynamically changing Page Setup and Orientation in BIRT ?

Thanks,
Vishnupriya
