force excel output to numeric instead of general

Hi, I would like to force the Excel format of a columncell to be numeric.Excel set this format to general. I need a numeric format.Using BIRT 2.6.1 with Spudsoft emitter

Do you have to stick with 2.6.1? I think that the newer versions (4.3.2) change the cell format to match the data.
