Change Datasource from beforeOpen() of Dataset

<p>Hi All,</p><p> I've been searching around, but haven't found anything definitive. I'm using a script in the beforeOpen of one of my Datasources to change the Datasource URL. Like so</p><p> </p><p>if (db_choice == "DB1")
 {
   extensionProperties.odaURL = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@DB1ID:1521:ORCL";
   extensionProperties.odaUser = "report_user";
   extensionProperties.odaPassword = "report_password";
 }</p><p> </p><p>We'd like to actually grab that info from a Datasource in a library, instead of hardcoding the url. I've already got the Datasource in my report, so if I could actually set the Datasource from the Dataset beforeOpen, that would be ideal.</p><p> </p><p>I suppose it's not as simple as</p><p> </p><p>dataSource = "DatasourceName";</p><p>or</p><p>setDataSource("DatasourceName");</p><p> </p><p>or something like that.</p><p> </p><p>Thanks for any help,</p><p>Don</p>

<p>OK, I think I got what I needed.</p><p> </p><p>Here's what I do in the beforeOpen of my default Datasource now</p><p> </p><p>var db_choice = reportContext.getPersistentGlobalVariable("DB_CHOICE");</p><p>if (db_choice == "CONN1")
 {
   var conn1_dsrc = reportContext.getDesignHandle().findDataSource("conn1_connection");
   extensionProperties.odaURL = new String (conn1_dsrc.getProperty("odaURL"));
   extensionProperties.odaPassword = new String (conn1_dsrc.getProperty("odaPassword"));
   
 }
 
if (db_choice == "CONN2")
 {
   var conn2_dsrc = reportContext.getDesignHandle().findDataSource("conn2_connection");
   extensionProperties.odaURL = new String (conn2_dsrc.getProperty("odaURL"));
   extensionProperties.odaUser = new String (conn2_dsrc.getProperty("odaUser"));
   extensionProperties.odaPassword = new String (conn2_dsrc.getProperty("odaPassword"));

 }</p><p> </p><p>Looks fairly simple in hindsight, but I had a time getting it narrowed down. :-)</p><p> </p><p>Hope this helps someone else.</p>
