Creating components DCT ?

want to include one datacapture.cfg in another .. basically a component DCT with few <items> in it.. is it possible ?... if yes can somebody guide me how?

The closest thing to a DCT include is an inline callout. With an inline callout you can execute a command and put STDOUT into the DCT. A common practice is to create XML snippets with DCT elements such as entire items, or just a few elements such as a callout or input box.

Here a inline-callout snippet from a datacapture.cfg that include a callout to editor.cgi:

<textarea rows="10" cols="40" wrap="virtual" required="t">
<inline command="/bin/cat editor.xml"/>
</textarea>

here is the contents of editor.xml that get included within the DCT
<substitution>
<cgi-callout url="/iw-bin/editor.cgi" label="Edit" window-features="width=452,height=302,locaiont=no,status=no,resizable=yes,toolbar=no,titlebar=yes"/>
</substitution>
