how to get the exact text in date parameter

<p>Hi, I have a date parameter textbox. It is working good and I can validate not to use future date. But I have a requirement that I also need to validate the format MM/dd/yyyy.</p><p> </p><p>I whenever I pass the params["Date From"].value it returns Jan 1, 2012.</p><p>I was able to get the text by</p><p>var date = Formatter.format(params["Date From"].value, "MM/dd/yyyy")</p><p>which works in my validator function for mm/dd/yyyy</p><p> </p><p>is it possible to get the exact text entered in the textbox date param (w/o making it as string?) thanks</p><p> </p>
