Edit data in a report

Hi,I'm new to BIRT and was lloking if we can edit the data displayed in the report.I'm using Oracle database and the requirement is to edit the data in the report and save back the edited data to database.Please help me on this.

It all depends on what data are u trying to edit. If i understand correctly you are trying to "format" the data which you have Dpending on the type of data, you can find on properties tab options of `Format Number`, `Format dateTime` and `Format String`, you can use either depending on your requirement. Further you have BIRT and and Native JavaScript functions which you can utilize to edit/format the data. As far as inserting records you can do this by the beforeClose method and you prefabricate your insert query in a variable. I am not too sure about the insert as i have not tried it out myself

Thanks for the reply!!!This is not regarding the format of data.I want to modify the data presented in the report and save it back to database. Will it be possible in BIRT?

can you provide some examples as what do u mean by modify data, and as far as data insert, we can do it, however you have to do some research and members too will help you out

Hi, There is nothing out of the box in BIRT that will let you save modified data in a database. However, it is relatively easy to build a solution based on a servlet that will take data from a report and post it to a database.
