Different style for same element type in a report using CSS
RepBIRT

When externally defined CSS is added to the report, the style is applied to the corresponding elements.

The scenario is the same element type should have different style (example: label inside one container should have one background color and should have other background when placed in the other container) . When css is applied, all the label implements the same background color.

But the label should reflect differently. How to achieve this using CSS.

It would of great help, if someone provide a sample or a reference.

You should be able to provide custom styles and assign these to different elements in the report design using the property editor. Let me know if I'm misunderstanding something. What is your BIRT version?

RepBIRT

More clarity on the requirement.

Its a multi page report with multiple grids with labels, tables, etc.,

Each grid have different backgrounds and each elements do have different background and other styles.

Each of the color codes, font styles, etc should change based on the different users (customers)

When CSS is applied, the entire report element type (for example - all the grid and their properties) gets changed.

But when CSS is applied the few elements of same type(ex: grid) should have some styles and few other with different styles.

Using style in the property editor might be huge activity.

1) Its a huge report.

2) Styles should change based on the customers. (So lot of scripting has to be done, to implement the changes).

It is possible to achieve this using CSS or there any better approach available.Kindly do share it, if there are.

This can be achieved in html using element id and applying the style based on the id's. Is it possible to implement similar kind of approach to work in BIRT
