Landscape problem

Hi everyone, I am using Birt 4.2I am facing a problem with landscape orientation. I have 85 records. every record consists 12 columns. Our requirement is like In page1subject v1 v2 v3s1 1 2 3s2 1 2 3s3 1 2 3 in page2subject v4 v5 v6s1 4 5 6s2 4 5 6s3 4 5 6 We have no any problem with this in Auto and Portrait Orientation. But with Landscape.Any solution can helps us a lot.

Hi, I don't understand well your problem, but if you wan the same output for column 9 and 10 , you have to set a width for each of your column

Hi, Thank you very much for your reply. We have been waiting for this for 4 days. our problem is, In Portrait orientation, we are able to display v1,v2,v3,v4,v5 for 1-40 subjects. In the next page we are showing v6,v7,v8,v9,v10 for the same subjects 1-40. We are able to display for remaining subjects also successfully. This is what we want exactly. But where as coming to Landscape orientation, it is showing v1,v2,v3,v4,v5,v6,v7,v8 for 1-40 subjects. But In the immediate next page it is showing v1,v2,v3,v4,v5,v6,v7,v8 for remaining subjects(subjects after 40). Our requirement is, it should show v9,v10 for 1-40 subjects in the second page like portrait orientation. Any solution helps us a lot. Thanks,Ramprasad.

Hi, The key point is that you can't have the same number of line in portrait and in landscape with the same layout.If you want to manage your layout, you have to specify a number of line for pagebreak which fits with the page size. For portrait, 40 lines per page is ok for simple line (with no carriage retrun for instance) but for landscape you have to set it to 30 otherwise, the pagebreak and the will be done manage automaticaly. Here are two examples made with BIRT OS 4.3.1Portrait : columnbreak on column 5 and 40 lines per pageLandscape : columnbreak on column 8 and 30 lines per page For both you have page 1 first columns before columnbreak, page 2 rest of the columns etc...

Hi, Actually i am generating a report using java class. The end user don't want to enter Page Break Interval. Can't we adjust Page Break Interval automatically ?. We are also facing one more problem, In some reports we have [color=rgb(40,40,40);font-family:'Source Sans Pro', sans-serif;]carriage return for instance [/color][color=rgb(40,40,40);font-family:'Source Sans Pro', sans-serif;]as you told in earlier replies. How to resolve this issue. Hi, in the example, the pagebreak value is coming from a parameter, but it can be whatever you want and be specified automaticaly.If you want to make it simple, keep the same example but hide the parameter and define it in the java class. A carriage retrun will automaticaly create a new line.Either you need to count them before and calculate the number of line for page break (probably difficult) or split your line in several "tiny" lines. <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://developer.actuate.com/community/forum/index.php?/topic/34609-display-problem-value-of-a-dataset/'>Here is an example</a> with some script to split a long text field

Hi as explained, as far as I know, there is nothing OOTB to split line. You have to do it yourself. There are a lot of solutions, but the most simple is putting some javascript.You can use scripted dataset or a simple computed field. Just "scan" your input field and every X characters, add a carriage return<div><pre class="_prettyXprint">var SPLIT="";for (i=0;i<row["<your field>"].length;i++) { SPLIT=SPLIT+row["<your field>"].substr(i,1); if(i>0 && i % <desired lenght> == 0) { SPLIT=SPLIT + "nb "; }}</pre>With this kind of coding you will obtain ONE single row with carriage returns. If you want to have separate lines, you can use the previous example based on a scripted dataset</div>
