Iam getting the following error while deployment....

Iam getting this error " Duplicated destination area is not allowed" but all the scripts were working when tested in OD5.5.1...while testing it in OD5.6...the problem comes....

any help....

Sounds like you've tripped over bug #37666: Duplicate target location with unique nodes and replicationFarms should be allowed. There is a patch in process to fix this: #38020.

Please file a case with Tech Support so that you can be attached to the bug and patch request.

Is this is a OD 5.6.0 bug? or 5.5.1?
Because I'm observing a simillar error in 5.5.1.
I cannot specify multiple source area with a single target directory in a definition.

I believe bug 37666 is unique to OD 5.6.

You may want to double check that your deployment config is following the DTD correctly.

This throws an error

But if I use a <targetRules> inside <pathSpecification> and specify a different target location for one of the sourceFilesystem then it works fine. But if I specify the same <targetRules> area then it comes out with a same error.

I have also tried using multiple <pathSpecification> inside a single <sourceFilesystem> which throws the same error.

Please let me know how to deploy the multiple source to a single target area using a single definition.

I think this is a valid error because in either case you are trying to deploy to the same target area, which can cause file collisions.

I'm not sure whether you can deploy from two dirs into a single dir, but perhaps try specifying two pathSpecification elements within a single sourceFilesystem element.

I have tried two pathSpecification elements within a single sourceFilesystem. It comes out with the same error.
We used to do the same type of deployment in OD4.5. The set of files we are deploying are totally different.
Here is the OD 4.5 config for the same operation.

Even when I convert this file to 5.x format using the iw tool iwodcfg2xml, it creates a config with single sourceFilesystem with multiple path specification. But as I said earlier it throws me the same error.

I tried what I think you want with a solaris OD5.6 to OD5.6 and it works for me.... 2 pathSpecification's in sourceFilesystem.

You probably meant you are on OD 5.5.1 (since there is no OD 5.5.2.)

Can you try dood's example with OD 5.5.1 (SP2) to see if it works for you? Or preferably move up to OD 5.6? Smiley Wink

Todd, my base server is on win2k and receiver is on unix. By upgrading just the base server to 5.6 on windows side can I resolve this problem?
The reason I'm asking this question is we have many receiver boxes compared to base servers so it is a greater effort to upgrade the receivers.

Please verify.

And also is there any chances of getting a patch to OD 5.5.1 to resolve this?

OD 5.6 lets you deploy to OD 5.5.1 targets. So if the problem is being caused by the sending Base Server, I would say upgrading just that node should take care of it.

A patch for OD 5.5.1 is less likely to be produced if upgrading the sender to 5.6 can resolve the issue. Please give OD 5.6 (with latest 5.6 patch) a try.

Is this true?
My concern is loosing the existing feature of "exception filter", which will be a problem.

You're using the *exclusion* filter, which should continue to work for you.

The *exception* and *inclusion* filters are new as of OD 5.6 and have the limitation (i.e., must deploy between 5.6 nodes.)

I upgraded my base to OD 5.6, this resolved my problem of sending multiple source to single target in a single definition.
But this works if the od config uses only one definition.
If I use multiple deployment (using multiple definition) from a single config where one of the definition has a 'multi source to same target type configuration', the process doesn't work.
It comes out with a similar error as I've reported earlier.
