command line for copying folders&files

hi ...can anyone plz help us with this..
Is there any command line tool which which copy the files specified from source to destination as per the folder structure that exist... from one workarea to other..
which all permissions are required...

Unix or Windows?

I dunno about Windows (something like 'xcopy' rings a bell), but on Unix you can either use the "cp -r" command (make use of the -p flag to preserve permissions), or something slightly more exotic, like:

tar cf - your-dir | (cd your-new-dir; tar xf -)
