Using iServer and iHub F-Type on the Same Machine
VSafonov

While reading through the pre-requisites fot iHub install I have noticed it requires same ports as the iServer. Is it possible to install iHub on a same machine as the iServer?

It is possible to have both an iServer, and iHub or F-Type on the same machine. However, it is not recommended because ports will be needed to be changed on the iHub or F-Type so that it does not conflict with the existing iServer.

If you want F-Type running on the same machine, one option is to download the F-Type VM Linux image (<a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

and run the VM on the same machine. The host machine will require VMWare Player 6.0.3. And the VM uses:

CentOS 6.5

2 Virtual CPUs

RAM: 4 GB

Free Disk Space: 6 GB

At the Customer Days it was explained to me that iHub can coexist with the iServer on a same machine by the way of some config changes. Since my machine IS a VMWare image partitioning it is not an option. Can't I just "fix" all the ports manually? If yes - is there a list of configs I need to change?

Could you please provide some additional details about the use case for having both iHub F-Type and iServer on the same machine?

Are you wanting to have both iServer and iHub F-Type running simultaneously or do you plan on only having one or the other running at any given time?

iServer is our "legacy" application with 100s of reports and Actuate queries. I am looking to have BIRT functionality available for our users. Since it can not be integrated into iServer I need iHub running in parallel to iServer. iServer is CPU bound so we have resources available on the box.

Although I do not know the details of your environment, BIRT functionality is available and can be utilized and implemented within an iServer.

Could you please elaborate on how BIRT functionality cannot be integrated into your iServer?

What is the business/technical requirement which is preventing BIRT functionality from being available within your iServer?

1. Your latest features like analytics and 360 are only available under iHub. So when we were discussing a possibility of purchasing licenses it was explained that it would be only available in iHub and it wouldn't be a problem running them in parallel.

forgot 2... - this one is free.

Technical issues aside, the issue here is licensing. Check here for more information - <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

Specifically - For a single application, you may not combine installations or copies of BIRT F-Type or any other software licensed on a commercial basis from Actuate or a third party licensor.
