Are you wanting to use a HTML checkbox or alternate an image of a checked box and an unchecked box? Let me know.

Also, what is your BIRT version and can you explain a little more? Is it one checkbox? Or a checkbox per row?

Thanks michael, for the quick response.

I wan t to use checkbox as an html checkbox. in my database a filed has values as ("Y" or "N"). based on the value of this field i want to make it as checked (if the value is "Y") or unchecked (if the value is "N") . I have created a dataset in which i am getting the value of that database field.

but how can I compare the value of that dataset column in html and make checkbox checked or unchecked? is there a way to do this?

There are two checkbox one for yes and one for no and at a time one can be checked based on the value ("Y" or "N").

for the BIRT version following is the xml source of birt file

<report xmlns="http://www.eclipse.org/birt/2005/design"
; version="3.2.17" id="1">

<property name="createdBy">Eclipse BIRT Designer Version 2.3.2.r232_20090202 Build <2.3.2.v20090218-0730></property>

<property name="units">in</property>

<property name="iconFile">/templates/first_report.gif</property>

<property name="cheatSheet">org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui.cheatsheet.firstreport</property>

<property name="bidiLayoutOrientation">ltr</property>

Thanks,

In a text box with HTML selected from the drop down, you can build html check boxes and pull data from the report using the <value-of> tag. Let me know if you have more questions on how to do this or if you need an example.

yes , iam able to create it with this approach ,

however while previewing i am able to see checkboxes working but on generating report as pdf checkboxes disappear.

is there any way to achieve this??

Thanks,

You'll have to use images for pdf. Have one with yes selected and one with no selected and swap them out based on your data.
