Calendar Data Selector Date Range (start date - end date) greyed out

I would like my users to be able to choose a date range (start and end dates) on a Dashboard.
 
How do I go about inserting a Calendar selector on a Dashboard, allowing a start and end date to be chosen?
 
At the moment, it appears that I can only choose one date at a time. Start and End dates are also greyed out under Format.
