date format is changing while opening CSV report into Excel
ashish13

Hi,

I am using BIRT 2.2.2 and csv emitter for generating csv report. i am setting the date into String into BIRT design and format i am setting as "yyyy-mm-dd" using query and in query converting the same as String. When i am opening the report in Textpad, the date is coming in correct format, but when opening in excel the date is coming in dd/mm/yyyy format.

Let us know, if i need to update something in design to get the date in yyyy-mm-dd format while opening csv report in excel.

Thanks in advance,

This is normal.

When you open a CSV file into Excel, Excel wil try to find dynamically the format of each field. When it finds something which looks like a date, it apply its default locale.

It means, if your default locale in Excel is dd/mmm/yyyy, and you've a csv filed like yyyy-mm-dd, you'll always have and dd/mmm/yyyy in Excel.
