Formatting Chart Object

Hi,

I have setup a Bar Chart based dashboard. There are two issues that I am facing:

The value of Individual bar does not show up . Only when the cursor is moved over a bar the I am able to see the Value. Why so?

Is there a way by which I can choose specific color for individual Bars in the Bar Chart. For example monthly values in one color and yearly average in another color in the same Bar chart.

Regards,

Ram

Hi Ram,

Most of the chart formatting in dashboard is controlled from themes. You can choose themes from the Format tab in the Chart builder. Out of the box, there are 4 themes: Modern, Clean Blue, Warm Red and Grayscale. None of these themes will display the values in a bar chart. If you want to modify or add themes, you need to edit the report library that contains them, which is ThemesReportItems3.rptlibrary found in the Resources folder of the iHub volume. The editing is done in BD Pro.

I am sending you a modified version of ThemesReportItems3.rptlibrary which contains a new theme, Modern PR, which displays the value of each bar. You can publish this file to the Resources folder of your iHub. (Hint: Make a copy of the existing library before replacing it, just in case...) Then, create a new dashboard and choose Modern PR as a theme for your bar chart.

Hope this helps,

Hi Ram,

You could create an rptlibrary with your required themes, a master page with your desired header/footer, company logo, etc. This rptlibrary can then be included as a dependency in your future report designs and all of these elements can then be pulled in directly from the rptlibrary so they do not have to be recreated and will stay standardized.

Mr Freeman,

I created a rpttemplate but do not know how to create a new report with this template as this template does not show up in the default list.

Also how to apply this custom template to existing reports?

Regards,

Hi Ram,

A custom template is intended to be used as a template for creating a new report and is not intended to be used to update/modify an existing report. it is, as the name implies, a template to be used as a starting point for future report development. This template should work as a basis for your future reports however, it will not impact your existing reports.

An rptlibrary can be used to modify existing reports as well as to pull desired elements from the rptlibrary into new reports you are developing.
