When you open a template... Do you mean when you go to create a new DCR, when you edit and existing DCR?, when you attempt to generate or preview the DCR?

Also - what version of TeamSite are you using - and what Templating UI are you using (the browser-based or the Java based)?

My guess is that there are a lot more questions to ask / be answered to drill down to the problem you are experiencing, but the above should at least provide a basis for them.

This is happening when i go to edit a dcr or view a dcr.
When i try to create a new dcr i get an error that says "error parsing templating.cfg file."
I haven't changed the templating.cfg and neither any other users.
The problem started all of a sudden and i look at the templating.cfg and i don't find any errors.

I am using teamsite version 5.5.2 and the only change i did in the last 2 days to the server is i installed the visual format patch that crashes the server.
I am using a browser based UI.

To summarize i am not able to get to a dcr.

Can any one look into this and let me know what is the problem i am facing...
this happened after i installed the service pack for the visual format editor.

Well, if your server says that it doesn't like your templating.cfg file, I'd triple check it, lots of files are "never changed", but still seem to mutate slightly. A couple of my favorite mutations involve ":wq" and "ZZ" appearing at random in a file I haven't changed.

Solve templating.cfg first. Then look into the other problem.

It would be easier to look into if you posted (as an *attachement*) your templating.cfg file

attaching templating.cfg file pls see the attachment
The mystery part is some of my templates are working.
when i open others i either get a sax error or a 500 internal server error.

When i uninstall the patch for the visual format tool bar that crashes the IE all my templates start working fine.

I'd suggest opening up a case with Interwoven Support - as it sounds like the VisualAnnotate issue is causing the other problem and it will be much easier for them to assist you in gathering all the pertinent information and diagnosing the problem (and resolution)
