dynamic series on chart
dmoore
<p>I have dynamic measures for different projects.</p>
<p>I may have at 1 point in time 4 projects with 10-30 different measures each</p>
<p>is it possible to have each measure plot out to individual series in the chart dynamically?<br><br>
or does every measure have to be created before hand and if the data doesn't support it then it doesn't show on chart? or perhaps behind the scenes I tell chart (with API) to not show certain series?<br><br>
it just appears to me that you have to create the series manually in the chart GUI and cant tell it to just say - with the data given (filtered data) show every measure in the current data?</p>

<p>Depending on your data setup, the optional y-series grouping would dynamically create the series if it exists in the data.</p>

<p>what I am asking is it dynamically creating up to 30 series on the fly - not a single series on the right side.<br>
is this possible or would I have to manually create every series first?</p>

<p>I'm not certain you understand what the optional y-series grouping does. It creates N series in your chart based on the field used. So, if your data was set up to be able to use the optional y-series grouping properly, it'd create MANY series.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>For example:</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If you had data like this:</p>
<p>ID | Group A | Group B | Group C</p>
<p>1 | Value 1 | Value 1 | Value1</p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">2 | Value 2 | Value 2 | Value2</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">3 | Value 3 | Value 3 | Value3</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">4 | Value 4 | Value 4 | Value4</span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">You'd have to create three separate series manually for A, B, and C.</span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">If you transformed your data to be like this:</span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">ID | Value | Group</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">1 | Val 1 | A</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">1 | Val 1 | B</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">1 | Val 1 | C</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">2 | Val 2 | A</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">2 | Val 2 | B</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">2 | Val 2 | C</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">3 | Val 3 | A</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">3 | Val 3 | B</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">3 | Val 3 | C</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">4 | Val 4 | A</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">4 | Val 4 | B</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">4 | Val 4 | C</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"> </p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">You could use Id for the xAxis, Value for the yAxis, and Group for the optional y-series grouping field and the chart would automatically be created with three series A, B, and C. If any one of those three values wasn't represented, it wouldn't have a series created.</span></p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"> </p>
<p style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;"><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">Hope this better explains the option I suggested.</span></p>
