I have created tabs on my metadata capture template in teamsite 5.5.2. Most of the controls placed on the various bins are selection lists being populated through an inline call out to an ipl file. most of these controls are required fields. The first item in every selection list is selected.
When the metadata capture template comes up, the fields associated with the selection lists on the first tab are recognized as having value, but the selection lists on the other tabs do not. As a result if the user presses save, the system prompts the warning that all required fields were not entered and does not save the metadata. If the user goes and clicks on each tab, the metadata save fine even if every single field is not visited. Does any one know the solution to this problem????

Cant you use Java script and onload event of the form fill the dropdown with a default value which is the first value?

Hey its me again...
Just check the attaced files. Here i have attached a datacapture file and also an IPL file. IPL file fills the text box in the datacapture file with a default value. May be you can just modify this functionality for a dropdown?

My datacapture is attached to the posting. It has the code for a metadata capture ruleset. The ipl file I am running to load the dropdown is selecting the first item in the list. The problem I am having is that on Save, the metadata capture engine is not recognizing the fields as filled till the tab these fields are on, gets focus.
