How to use latest data and real time data for the report and dashboard?

<p>I am using BIRT runtime previously and now trying to use the BIRT iHub.   In the iHub, I don't understand how can the report reflecting the latest data from database.    I found that the data inside data object is the data when I created it and published it.    When I run the report in iHub, it still using the same data in the data object but not the latest data which I done after I created the data object. (e.g.  I inserted some more new rows in to the database table, but this information not reflect on the new run report.)      Is there some step I missing?   </p>
<p>For the BIRT runtime report, I just need to design the report and then map the data from datasource and dataset directly, then everytime I run the report it will get the latest data from the database and reflect on the report screen.</p>
<p>Is this iHub require some more step to achieve it?</p>
<p>Besides, I am planing to create some real time dashboard like the real time stock chart,  is there anyway in iHub I can set how long to refresh the data for the chart?   Below is the information from other real time chart product, do BIRT iHub can also provide simple way to achieve the similar report?</p>

<p>If you have an existing BIRT report created with the Open Source version, you will be able to run that report from iHub without changing anything. I am specifically referring to the 2nd paragraph of your post where you say that you currently map the datasource and dataset directly in your report. That technique does not have to change and is the preferred way if you need to reflect data changes by re-running the report frequently. Data Objects can be used as a source to a report, but if you need to re-run the report frequently to get the most up-to-date data, you will need to use the Datadesign as the data source (.datadesign), not the Data Store (.data), because the Data Store will contain data that may not include the most recent data from your operational sources.</p>

<p>As for refreshing data in real-time, there are many ways to accomplish this using BIRT iHub. The easiest way would be to use the functionality of BIRT dashboards and have the gadget that contains your stock chart refresh itself on a regular basis. You can set this functionality by setting the Auto-Refresh property and choosing a time interval. If you prefer to output your stock chart in a report or directly on a web page using JSAPI, some simple JavaScript could be used to re-generate the report on a timely basis.</p>
