Running BIRT Designer using command-line (shell / DOS prompt)
chaidir

Hi,

i am a newbie to BIRT. There for I would like to ask some help from everyone here. My problem is, i want to call (run) the BIRT Designer using command-line (shell or DOS) within a rptdesign file opened inside it.

We can use this command-line to execute common application using DOS:

START [application.name.exe] [your-full-path-file-name]

for example:

C:\>start AcroRd32.exe "C:\my-pdf-file.pdf"

We can also type our file name with full path directly from the command prompt, and when we press the enter button, the file will opened within it's registered application of relevant file types.

But i can not do those methods above to call (run) the BIRT designer with a rptdesign opened inside it. Even though i've already register the rptdesign file extension into it, still the file won't show. Only the BIRT designer is showing.

Can anybody help me out with this? thank you for all of your answer.

regards,

Can you please describe the use case of why you need to open another designer within a design? What are you really trying to accomplish?
