Crosstab missing column in excel

Thanks in advance for your help!
Birt designer is 3.7, followed this link: <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href=''>http://stackoverflow...ut-off-in-excel</a>, but the excel does not show the left first column if the columns are not manually resized, or the right side of the report missing if the columns are manually adjusted.

Could you provide an example using the classic models sample database that will show this issue so I can run it and do some testing?
 
Also, have you tried auto layout for your design? Maybe fixed layout is causing issues? You can find this setting by selecting a blank area in your report design and going to the bottom of the general tab in the property editor.

Sorry for the delay. Could you attach a report that uses the Classic Models Sample Database so I can test on it?

In glancing at your report, it would seem that the issue probably happens because you have a width defined for the measure fields, but none for the dimension column, so if it's running out of space to put measures, the dimension field will shrink to nothing. That's just a guess without testing.

Sorry for my so late response!!
I am having same problem again for another similar report, exact same column missing for exported excel file. Could you please take a look at the report, and the data source is attached in the excel file.

You're running into the master page size limit with your measure columns having the set width. If you change the master page size to US Legal, you'll see that all columns will show up. If you move the crosstab from the table cell to below the table, all of the columns show up without issue as long as you set a width for the row header column, too. Some of this seems fairly buggy, but 3.7.1 is a very old version, at this point. I would guess that some of these issues are no longer present in the latest version (I'd have to double check though).

Changing master page size to US legal works great, but moving crosstab out of the table returns an error during exporting as excel (works fine for exporting as PDF): " org.eclipse.birt.report.service.api.ReportServiceException: Error happened while running the report."
 
Wondering if birt report from the latest birt version(4.4) works fine with maximo75? if yes, is there any detail upgrade steps for me to upgrade to birt 4.4? It works for Excel to move it out of the table, IF you size the row header column, too. As for using the latest BIRT inside Maximo, I don't think there is an upgrade path for this. That might be a better question for the Maximo forums. You could probably use the latest version of BIRT outside of Maximo instead.

 I am still having same problem for another report, even after the master page is changed to US legal or custom( width set as 24 in), could you please take a look at my report and data file( the first left column of excel file is missing, here I am adding to it for your test).

The design you attached has legal size, but not landscape layout. Could you try switching to landscape. Also, in the XLS file you attached, it would appear to me that the first column is present. If you could, it'd be best if you could reproduce the issue with sample data from a flat file, scripted data source, or the sample database so that I can run the design for testing.

Thanks very much for your patience and time! wondering if you are saying the the master page's layout? if yes, it was landscape. Yes, the original xls file did not have the first left column, I added there for you to see what is missing. 

I will try to do sample data from a flat file(never did this).

There is a flat file data source. All you'll need is a csv file with your data in it. Once you've built your report using that, you can attach both in here and I'll be able to actually run the report to see what you're seeing.

I tried to create flat file source report, not totally worked as expected, like the report does not display year, month in the crosstab. But the problem is repeated there.
Could you please see the attached file and gave me some advise? Thanks very much!

In 4.4.2, it opens with the xlsx emitter perfectly. The xls emitter that would be the same as in your version does show the issue though.
 
If I switch the layout to auto, the first column displays properly. If you leave the report layout on fixed, it would appear that you will need to make sure the master page width is set to a value that will definitely fit the content. In the case of this report, you need to set a custom page size with a width of 190 inches.
