Error (NULL) when reading persistent global variable in onRender

<p>However, I receive an error when calling the "get" method of the persistent global Variable "tocMap". This happens in the "onRender" Method of the label in the TOC.</p>

<p>Here's the error message:</p>

<p><span style="font-size:14.4444446563721px;">You are not doing anything wrong other than you should not be using Preview. The issue is that my code depends on the fact run and render are separate tasks. The run task creates the hash map and the render task uses it. In order for this to work you need first view the report and then to export to PDF. Make sense?</span></p>

Unfortunately we have embedded BIRT in our own application in a way which makes using the "WebViewer" impossible.</p>
<p>Do you think there's any workaround in that case?</p>

<p>For example: If I rearrange the TOC table to appear after the content table, I can access the tocMap in the onCreate method of the TOC-Label without having to store it as a persistentGLobalVariable. Of course, this workaround doesn't make much sense, b/c the TOC should appear first, but still.. it might be a step in the right direction. </p>

<p>If you are embedding BIRT you have two choices to generate content. One is to use the runandrender task, the other is to use tow separate tasks one to run and one to render. My example will work with the latter (but not the former). Additionally the separate tasks is actually a more efficient way of doing this.</p>
