DataDeploy DAS for Metadata deployment

Can I use DD DAS to deploy only metadata into database. Do I need TeamSite templating installed and configured for DAS. In my environment, I will have a TS server configured for metadata capture and I import the files into TS using the gui or file system. Now when I set metadata for these files, I need to deploy those metadata into database. I dont have the use of templateing and DCR creation.
In the DD manual, it says when I run iwsyndb.ipl to setup DAS it looks for datacapture template for each data type. so is it mandatory that I need to install and setup Templating ?
Any other easier approach for this requirement

In the iw.cfg fiel I need to set log_setea=yes, for making DAS to deploy metadata ??????????

Do I need to create the TS branch and workarea only after installing DAS ??

Yes you can use DAS to deploy metadata into DB. You do not need templating to setup metadata deployment. Also you do not need to set log_setea flag in iw.cfg. you can just use the TeamSite metadata GUI to set the metadata.

To just run initial for Metadata you need to run
iwsyncdb.ipl -initial <vpath_to_your_wa> teamsite/metadata
Make sure you generate the dbschema.cfg file for MD before running -initial by running
iwsyncdb.ipl -mdcddgen ....

where do I mention the details about the database to connect. My DB2 server is on another machine (not on DataDeploy server). Which config file do I need to modify ?

here is what you need to do for the metadata...
first define a database in the iw-home/datadeploy/conf/database.xml
here is an example :

then define the iw-home/datadeploy/conf/mdc_ddcfg.template (telling wich database to use in the <database ...> tag).
then edit the iw-home/local/config/datacapture.cfg that will be your form.You can define multiple forms and set wich form will be called where by putting regexes in the iw-home/local/config/metadata-rules.cfg.
then run iwsyncdb.ipl -mdcddgen that will create a mdc_dd.cfg in the iw-home/local/config directory.Then with this file you can use the iwdd.ipl command to launch metadata on the workareas if of course you have set the log_**** (don't remember wich one for metadata) to on in the iw.cfg file.

I assume, DAS will create the necessary tables in the database. What will be name of this talbe ? Do I need to create a blank table and leave it ?

Also, do I need to do any specific configuration for DB2 client or DB2 server to make DataDeploy working. Like copying java2 library in client machine and running db2jstrt on server (Datadeploy admin manual - appendix A)

If I say that I have a workarea '/default/main/prd/internet/toto/WORKAREA/work', the table namewill be 'DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA__MAIN_PRD_INTERNET_TOTO_WORKAREA_WORK' but you will have a 'DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA__MAIN_PRD_INTERNET_TOTO_STAGING' and a view 'DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA__MAIN_PRD_INTERNET_TOTO_WORKAREA_WORK_VW' that will be a view of the staging and workarea table.2 more tables will be created iwov_idmaps and iwtracker.When table name or column are greater than 30 characters,the name will be transformed in IWT_**** for table,IWV_**** for view,IWC_**** for column...
The longid,shortid are stored in the table iwov_idmaps.iwtracker register the table,datadeploy will verify if a table exist in iwtracker.If you delete a table without deleteting reference in iwtracker some table will not be created again.
So if I want to delete my table,I need to do a 'delete from iwtracker where name =''DEFAULT_TEAMSITE_METADATA__MAIN_PRD_INTERNET_TOTO_WORKAREA_WORK':
Nothing special need to be done on you db,just be sure that your database is accessible.

Instead of DAS, if I use DataDeploy for manually deploying metadata from TeamSite to database (by defining a configuration file and running iwdd.ipl), do I need to create a table with necessary column (matching to my metadata definition) in the database ? or configuration file create the table and deploy data ?

If you use the standalone mode instead of DAS, Datadeploy will create the tables for you based on the table mapping provided in the <dbschema> element if those tables are not present in the database before deploying any data.

I have started DAS by running iwsyncdb.ipl.

Do I need to rerun this command after restarting the machine ?

I was able to deploy content after enabling DAS. but some how it is not working now.

If you are on NT you can set the DD service to start automatically. In case of Solaris you need to start the Datadeploy daemon.

When I run the iwdd.ipl command to deploy data from an xml file to db2 database, I am getting the following error. I am using DD on AIX. Any suggestion ?
