Opendeploy advantages over Rysnch
teamsite_guy
Hi
Can anyone please tell me, what advantages Opendeploy has over "rsynch" deployment software.
Thanks

There are a number of areas where OpenDeploy provides capabilities over rsync, which you would otherwise have to build yourself. Here are some areas where rsync is lacking...
No parallel distribution (i.e., fanout to multiple targets)
No multi-tiered distribution (i.e., no large-scale deployments)
No transactional distribution to ensure synchronization of assets across a quorum of targets
No notion of trigger points for kicking off external tasks (like DNR)
No built-in reporting mechanism
No UI for setting up, running and monitoring jobs
No built in job scheduler
No user access controls (i.e., roles and deployment jobs being restricted to certain users)
No built-in security (SSL) or target restrictions (allowed hosts, allowed deployment areas)
