Passing the "=" on a lookup parameter causes blank report

I have created a report with a parameter of vendor, that works. When I publish to Maximo, I include the parameter and also include a lookup of "companies". When I run the report and type the vendor code, I get data. When I use the lookup, the vendor code gets a "=" in front of the code in the selection box, and the report returns empty. 
 
I must be missing something obvious, but can't see it. Any help appreciated!

Ok, so I have found the answer, the SQL just needs changing on the parameter part. 
So don't worry anyone!
