Hello,
 
i'm using Eclipse Birt Designer v4.4.1,
What i would like to do in the report that i'm designing is to add programmatically tables (the same table structure) in my report based on a value that i get from a database query.
Example : if (queryValue = 1) ==> Add one table if (queryValue = 5) ==> Add 5 tables etc ...
Obviously i should add a loop that creates the tables.
Is there a way to do this in Birt Report Designer ?

This can be accomplished using the API in the beforeFactory method.
However how would these tables be populated, will they each have their own binding to a dataset(s)?
Or are the tables clones of each other?
Or would they have static values listed?

The tables would be populated using their own binding to a specific dataset (the tables have the same structure but are not clones to each other).

Through a web search, i learned that this could be done using Javascript (Or Java) Event Handlers like the beforeFactory method and the class actuate.report.Table that provides functions to operate on a Birt table element.
 
However, i still couldn't figure out how this could be done.
 
Can anyone please provide further details ?

The easiest method would be if you know the maximum number of tables you will need and then create them in the report design.
Then use Visibility logic to hide the tables that are not needed based on the query results.
 
However if the maximum number of tables are not known, then you would need to query the data beforeFactory in order to dynamically add tables to the report design.
Adding multiple tables to a report dynamically based on query result data can be tricky.

I attached an example that creates a table dynamically and sets the binding to a dataset that was created dynamically as well.
The dataset need to be generated dynamically due to query, column, and binding differences between each option.
Depending on your desired output structure, you might have to dynamically create the datasets as well.
Although, if the number of datasets/table bindings are already known, then as stated above, the Visibility option is the easiest method.
