Deploying Edition
Maninder_IBM
I am about to run a script on the live web server which will delete some files. Now if this job turns out to be a disaster I have created an edition. If I have to restore this edition on the web server and restore this edition in TeamSite, how do I do this?

First of all, any changes you make on the live web server(s) should be done via a deployment. For our source code deployments, we have the do_deletes option turned on so that an edition can always match the folder structure on the target server. This way, you can always know what's on a web site by looking at editions, comparing them, simulate deployments, etc.
If you have to restore an edition in TeamSite, you would copy the edition to a workarea, then resubmit from the workarea (using overwrites.) A deployment script can be setup to deploy editions from TeamSite.

Assuming the use of OpenDeploy - if the deployment fails for some reason, you could try to deploy the same edition again (assuming a sourceFileystem non-filelist a.k.a. dir-diff deployment) and it should be able to correct itself.
If the contents of the edition are bad (undesirable changes got in) - you could, as suggested, back out the changes in TeamSite, create a new edition and deploy that - or you could do another deployment with a previous (known-good) edition and make sure that you have the 'revert' option enabled in your deployment configuration file.
The upside of the alternative is that if the only reason the deployment was "bad" is because the content deployed was not "ready for prime time" - you don't have to alter anything in your TeamSite development environment, you just redeploy a known-good edition in place of the prematurely deployed edition.
I'd strongly recommend a thorough reading of the manuals, and if possible - attending one of the
training
offerings available.
