Workarounds for padding in Word
rcrane11

I see that there is an open bug to address the fact that the padding settings used in BIRT Reports are not picked up by MS Word. Are there any suggestions for workarounds for this padding issue? We have a requirement to add some space between the border line and text in the MS Word output. I considered adding a blank label field above every text field in each cell, but so far that seems to add too much space and also, it is not a very elegant solution. Just looking for other ideas.

Thanks

Is your report using a fixed layout or auto?

If the report is intended to have a fixed layout without dynamically changing elements/sizes, you could configure the cells with a width/height that is slightly larger than the text that will be displayed.

This will probably take some testing and isn't perfect but will avoid inserting blank fields to simulate padding.
