How to display Ukrianian names in a column in BIRT
neville_dsouza

Hello Everyone,

We are facing a problem in BIRT report designer in fetching Ukrainian names from a table instead of Ukraine characters it is showing some garbage special characters like ->,",.,-.

We are using 'Teradata SQL Assistant' to fetch data from database.

One column in a table is having 'Ukrainian' language names. We are able to see the Ukrainian names in Teradata SQL Assistant if we change the session character set from 'ASCII' to 'UTF8'.

But when we are using same charset as 'UTF8' in BIRT report designer, it is not fetching correct characters as it is showing other special characters.

1.We have tried by changing Locale in dataset to 'Ukrainian' , but it didn't work.

2.We have selected the option Export Encoding as 'UTF8' from Window>Preferences>Data Management>SQL Development>Execution Plan View. But it's not working fine.

3.We tried the following javaScript on the beforeFactory script:

reportContext.getDesignHandle().setStringProperty("locale","uk_UA");

But it also failed.

We assume that it is BIRT issue. Please, suggest us a solution to fetch 'Ukrainane names' from database.

Kindly.let us know if further information is required.

Thanks in advance.

Questions:

What font are you using?

How are you displaying the data? Preview in data set editor? Web Viewer?

Can you provide a UTF8 flat file?

Thank you for the response.

We resolved the issue.

We placed connection parameter as CHARSET='UTF8' in the following Teradata JDBC Driver Connection URL:

jdbc:teradata://DatabaseServerName/ParameterName=Value,ParameterName=Value.

Now, it is working fine.
