birt cannot find or process the oda data source extension configuration

Hi Team,
 
I am using a plugin for connecting BIRT to excel data source from here - <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://code.google.com/p/birt-spreadsheet-datasource/downloads/list'>http://code.google.com/p/birt-spreadsheet-datasource/downloads/list</a>
 
I am successfully able to use this plugin in BIRT designer without any errors simply by copying the jar files in eclipse\plugins directory as per the steps outlined in the pdf document.
 
The issue happens when I try to run this report in BIRT runtime 4.3.0. simply copying the files in reportengine/lib directory gives me below error,
 
"birt cannot find or process the oda data source extension configuration"
 
Do I need to define anything before using this in BIRT runtime? Can you please guide what I am missing here?

What is the designer version you're using? You're just looking for Excel or for BIRT Spreadsheet specifically? Is the runtime you're using OSGi or the standard (POJO)?

My designer version is 3.7.1.v20110905. I am looking to read data from an xls/xlsx sheet, hence I used the plugin from the url listed above.
It works perfectly fine when running the report in birt designer but fails with the BIRT runtime. I have attached the sample report and excel for your reference.

On the link you provided above, it says that the ODA works with 2.5-3.7.1. This could explain why it works with 3.7.1 designer and not with 4.3 runtime. Have you tried the 3.7.1 runtime?
