Cell comment for excel report
sankap

Hello.

In excel we can add comment for any cell. Does Birt have this functionality? Or is there a workaround?

In commercial BIRT you can add labels to the report and with Interactive Viewer the contents can be modified.

For both open source and commercial BIRT, you can add a text area using HTML tags in a Text control. Put this text control in a table row using the record id to make a unique bookmark. Then persist the comments in a database using a write back method as described here <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

You would need to add the appropriate client side scripting in the report to get which table record's text box changed and pass its value into the java class.
