Changing DataSource in Library using Java
Veerendra

Hi,

I have designed couple of reports using BIRT Designer and used same datasource in both the reports using Report Library. I have integrated this into my Java based Web Application which is working fine.

Let me know How can we change the DataSource in the ReportLibrary using Java? So that both the reports connect to new Datasource.

Thank You in advance.

Is there a particular reason you want to change the Data Source with Java instead of just opening the Report Library in the BIRT Designer and modifying the Data Source through the GUI?

Using the BIRT Designer will be the simplest way to update the Data Source in your Report Library.

Thanks for the reply.

Reason is that Our Birt Designer will be installed in Training Server and our Java application will be in the Production server. Data Source credentials are different in both Servers but the Data Set will be replicated in both servers.

Thank You,

Instead of using Java Code to modify the Data Source of the report designs for moving between dev and prod, I would recommend instead utilizing a connection profile.

This way you create the needed profiles for Dev and Prod and the reports configured to use the connection profile for it's data source will not need to be run through the Java Application to be edited every time they are deployed to prod.

Take a look at this devshare for details on a connection profile being used to move between multiple environments: <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='
