Parsing the Resultset of DataSet Query in BIRT using Java
Veerendra

Hi,

We have created the Report using BIRT. Data Set used in the Report Design retrieves Secured Information. So the data in one of the Data Set column is encrypted.

In our normal data extraction mechanism, we will parse the Result Set, identify the data which is encrypted and then de-crypt to display the data.

How to handle this in BIRT?? Can we parse the resultset of DataSet Query used in BIRT during runtime, so that we can identify the encrypted Data and de-crypt before the display?

Thanks in Advance.

You can use the Design Engine API(DEAPI) to query a Data Set and iterate through the result set.

Take a look a this point in the dev share, it is using javascript however it is importing the java packages so it is adaptable to Java: <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

Also take a look at this previous thread on using DEAPI to iterate through a result set: <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

There are a few different ways I think you could accomplish decrypting the data.

The easiest approach would be to use a computed column. This way an additional column with the decrypted data will be created and you can write the script for decrypting the data in the expression builder for the computed column.
