Page break in webviewer causing page break in PDF
cmkatt

Hi Guru,

My report in PDF having unwanted page break due to the page break in BIRT webviewer. It seems like the webviewer can display double the height of the A4 landscape. Can i adjust the height of webviewer or any better way to address such issue. Your help is very much appreciated.

Attached herewith my rptdesign, PDF, and webviewer screen shot?

If you go straight to PDF instead of viewing in the webviewer first do you get a different result?

You table's page break interval is configured to 40 however, your PDF output appears to only take 20 rows per page. Changing this to 20 may resolve the behavior you are seeing.

Hi Jfreeman,

Thanks for your help.

1. go straight for the PDF giving the same result.

2. I amend to 20/21/22 with fixed layout could not solve the issue.

3. If amend to 0, my PDF display is perfect but it was time consuming for retrieval in webviewer.

Any better way to address this? :-(

And if you use a number greater than 0 but less than 20 such as 19, do you receive the same result?

Are you viewing this in the webviewer bundled with the designer or you deploying to your Maximo instance for testing?

Hi Freeman,

Thanks for following up. :-)

1. Yes, 19 giving me the same result.

2. I'm using webviewer from the designer, not from Maximo.

Question: 1. Will the 'auto / fixed layout' make a lot of difference in my case?

2. Is the webviewer in designer given different result from in Maximo?

JFreeman

Based on the report you have attached, I am not sure auto vs fixed layout will cause much difference for the page break scenario you are experiencing. However, you should test it out both ways to verify.

Regarding viewing in Maximo, I've not had a chance to use a Maximo environment extensively but it is my understanding there are some idiosyncrasies that could cause differences.

How much difference in performance are you seeing in the web viewer when you set the page break to 0?

Hi Freeman,

well noted. For 0 interval, it take > 1 minutes for a supposedly 3 seconds task. Anyway, we've decided to leave it as it is with 20 interval and select "Actual" instead of "Auto" when exporting to PDF.

Thanks you very much for the help rendered. Cheers..
