BIRT set default parameter if parameter is null.

<p>im using BIRT rptdesign file. </p>
<p>i have two date parameter input field with optional both. if the input value for startdate and enddate are empty then i'm getting the null pointer exception.</p>

<p>i'm using the query like </p>
<p>select * from table between ? and ?</p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Is it possible to set min date and max date to startdate and enddate from table on parameter prompting?</p>

Is there a reason the parameters need to be optional instead of required?</p>
<p>If they are being passed into the query, they should be required parameters to prevent the query from being incomplete.</p>

<p>Will the min and max date change or will they be consistent values?</p>
<p>If they are consistent you can just hard code those dates as the default value for the parameters.</p>
