<p>Are you using the out of the box column gadget from within the dashboard builder?</p>

<p>One option would be to create a report with your desired chart with the series labels turned on in it in BIRT Designer Pro and then use a report or reportlet gadget to pull in the chart from the report. Using this method would give you quite a bit more flexibility with designing the chart.</p>
