Page break issue for PDF and HTML
rajkishore

Hi,

I have created a report which render the out put of HTML and PDF.

I need to set page break interval for HTML is "30" and PDF is "0".

I ran the report in web viewer and exported PDF in that case I am having the issue. Please find the attached same report.

How to set different page breaks for HTML and PDF.

Note: this can be do able when we create two table one for html and one for PDF by setting visibility, but I prefer only one table. Since we have huge amount of data.

Thanks.

You should change the Layout Preference for this report to a Fixed Layout instead of Auto if you are wanting to manipulate the page breaking for a PDF output.

What do you want to PDF output to look like?

The two values you have specified in your current code for changing the page break interval are 0 and 10.

After changing to a fixed layout, In the case of 10, the product description column is taking up too much vertical space due to the long comments which is causing the page break to occur before 10 rows. Where as 0, it will cause the page break to occur naturally where ever needed. Both of which are happening as expected with your current design.

If you change your code so the page break interval is set to 3 with a fixed layout, you will see the PDF properly page breaking every 3 rows.

Thanks JFreeman, i was trying eliminate the page breaks in PDF , if i put "0" or "10" i am getting blank page in between data. For ex if you put page break 10 after 10th row i am getting huge blank in PDF. since my data having product description column is taking up too much vertical space due to the long comments.

so to eliminate this i have kept "0" as page break.but i dont have luck here.

what was the approach to use auto or fixed layout. I have read several article/blogs/forums but not get enough idea.after reading those i cam to know the below information.

fixed -- pdf

auto -html

But here, i need both should be consistency in web viewer and pdf . i.e with out any spaces in pdf pages and web viewer with per page 10 rows.

i hope i am clear , if you need any information let me know.

Regards

This is looking to be a bit tricky due to how the render format works with the different layout types with your desired results.

The simplest thing that I can think of would be if you could create a parameter for the report that sets what the output format needs to be, then the scripting for changing the page break should work successfully as you will base the settings for layout type and page break based on this value.
