Status Bar displaying discrete state changes in a bar
DerBen

Good day,

i need help designing a bar/graphic.

it should display a timeline on a horizontal axis with a fixed start and end date,

and fill the area with the color corresponding to the status the referenzed object has for that

given point in time. I already have a Dataset with the correct values, starting timestamp, ending timestamp and duration of the state. Here is a sketch:

What version of BIRT are you using?

Can you attach a flat file with a sample of the data you are using?

Hello JFreeman,

I attached some sample from the data source.

Inside the report i generate computed colums "actual_start" and "actual_end"

to clip the entries that are overlapping the start and end size.

PREV_TIME_STAMP marks the Start of the state, where TIME_STAMP marks

the end of the message.

EDIT: I am using Designer 4.3.1

Sorry for the delayed response.

Take a look at the attached sample report.

Out of the box, the closest thing to a timeline chart like you want is going to be an area chart which takes a bit of scripting to get it to look the way you want.

It uses the time stamps as you have described for the start and end times of the state and fills the area with a color based on the process state during the time frame.
