Best Practice Question- Designing a document with a fixed and variable Portion
lenburt
<p>Hello there - I have a requirement for a document (letter) which has a standard first section, but the second section is quite variable based on the State in which the recipient lives. I have done simple conditional logic like the following:</p>
<p> </p>
<div>if( dataSetRow["RECIP_STATE"] == 'CA') {</div>
<div>"Lives in California"</div>
<div>}</div>
<div>else if( dataSetRow["RECIP_STATE"] == 'VA') {</div>
<div>"Lives in Virginia"</div>
<div>}</div>
<div>else {</div>
<div>"Does not live in Virginia or California"</div>
<div>}</div>
<div> </div>
<div>...but this requirement is almost like i need to design a whole separate rptdesign and pull it in to a 'master' based on the State. The variable portion would involve different objects like grids etc...not just fixed text like my example.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Is there a best practice around the best way to meet this requirement?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>regards, len</div>

<p>I would create a library with components for each state. The dynamically include that content in the report either based on a parameter od a separate query. make sure each state component is self contained.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This example should give you an idea on how to do this. <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='
