New bug reported on Eclipse Bugzilla: PDF Whitespace
jimseconde

Hi all,

It's been mentioned to me that it would be a good idea to make everyone aware of a recent bug on the Actuate developer forums as well as Eclipse Bugzilla.

Bug 466438:

"The result of rendering a report as a PDF includes one extra whitespace character before some paragraphs in a Text Item on a report set to be HTML and Dynamic Text.

The Text Item only includes the HTML Bold tag and
as carriage returns. There are no other HTML entities."

There's an example over on the Eclipse bug tracker, plus other info such as OS and Eclipse version.

The rendering in PDF of extra whitespaces for paragraphs has meant that BIRT cannot do what I set out to do: it's a Government report and the superiors are not happy with paragraphs not lining up.

Regards all,

JKS.

Thank you for the details on the bug.

As a workaround, you can wrap your first portion of text in a div and give it a bottom margin instead of using
which looks to be the cause of the issue. This should give you spacing between the paragraphs without using the
tags.

For Example:

Testing text

This is another paragraph for testing.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for the workaround- I'll give that a go today and let you know if it's all happy.
