Salesforce jdbc driver documentation

I'm doing some development using the Salesforce jdbc driver in BIRT Designer Pro 4.4 for use in iHub F-Type. Where would I find the documentation on this driver and specifically what functions and syntax it supports. I am specifically interested in date/time functions.

I believe the bundled Salesforce JDBC driver with the professional designer is from data direct.
