Charts as SVG in PDF Emitter
fleminpg

I have seen some historic threads on this but have not been able to find a solution yet so would like some feedback on the latest product offering. When using the PDFEmitter with charts, the charts look to be rendering as images (e.g. png) instead of vector based drawings (e.g. svg). This impacts print quality. Has anyone found a way to export to PDF with vector based charting instead of images?

Thanks

I just tested in 4.4 and it looks that the chart type in PDF output should reflect the chart type selected in the design.

For example, if you create an SVG chart it will be SVG in the PDF output and if you select a PNG chart it will be a PNG in the PDF output.

Thanks Jesse. Based on the chart designer UI we were hoping the same, but even when we select the SVG output type it looks to us it is rendering to PDF as a non-vector image. Are you able to attached the PDF output you recieved from your test? One of the success criteria we are using is checking if the text on the resulting chart in the PDF is selectable as text or not. In our sample output it was not selectable and thus we are assuming it is just part of the entire chart image.

I am not sure it will have any affect, but try changing the property on the root of the report Image DPI (under advanced). This is used for images.

BTW, The chart will always be one image regardless of the type.
