After succesfull installation Ihub won't start

<p>Hi all,</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I have been struggling to setup Ihub over the last few weeks. However after adjusting the <span style="color:rgb(0,136,0);">kernel'</span><span>s SHMMAX parameter the installation went smooth. </span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span>However when I go to <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://myipaddress:8700/iportal'>http://myipaddress:8700/iportal</a>nothing show's up. </span></p>
<p>I checked:</p>
<p> </p>
<p>- port 8700 is open on server<br>
- firewall on my local machine allows traffic from and to 8700</p>
<p>- I can start and stop PostgreSQL</p>
<p>- I can start Ihub via ./startiHub.sh</p>
<p> </p>
<p>However if I try to stip Ihub via stopiHub.sh the console tells me that the Ihub process is not running. Additionally my System Administrator also checked port 8700 but no processes seem top be running after I start the Ihub. I have included the output from my console below:</p>

<p>The process "ihubservletcontainer" is the front end process for iPortal that should be listening on port 8700.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>When you start the iHub do you see this process running?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Can you attach the log files from your iHub for analysis?</p>
<p>They should be located in the directory "./ihub/data/server/log".</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The 4 log files I would be most interested in for this issue are the ihub, ihubd, ihubc, and ihubservletcontainer.</p>

<p>there is no process running on port 8700 after i start Ihub. </p>
<p>I have attached two dirs with log files.One dir before I cleaned up the log file dir. Than I stopped I hub, deleted all log files and restarted. the result logfiles are in the second dir. </p>

<p>However none of the files you mention are in de log dir.</p>

<p>I have had my System Administrator stop the process on 8100 which by the way was occupied by an ihub process. It seems that the process is not killed after stopping ihub via ./stopiHub<br>
I deleted my logfiles and restarted Ihub with the 8100 being killed.<br>
This resulted in a new logfile with errors (eg message port 8100 is gne, but software still does not start. I have included the new logfile. perhaps you can take a look and point me in the right direction. It looks like it has someting to do with the processor of the server. Please note I am running the software on a VPS 5virtual server)<br><br>

<p>I have had a long session with my system administrator to see wether we could get the programm to run by changing the binding of the cpu's. However no luck. He suggested to move from a VPS to a dedicated server which I did. On the dedicated server installation went smoothly so I have the program up and running. </p>

<p>Perhaps it is advisable to other users not to install Ihub on a VPS but use a dedicated server with it's own cpu's.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As for now I have some questions related to embedding reports in webpages via JSAPI but I will open a new thread for that.</p>

<p>I know of several instances of users with iHub on instances of AWS as well as other virtual instances.</p>
<p>There may be something more specific to your environments configuration that is causing the issue.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If you have the availability, I would like to see about getting a support case setup to collect more information from you about the startup issue while installed on your VPS instance so at the very least we can get a bug report submitted for the issue.</p>

<p>I am happy to share the config of the vps.To my understanding talking to my system administrator it was not possible to bind processes to the cpu's due to the fact they are shared cpu's in the vps environment. if you let me know exactly what you need I can give you the details. As for now I will concentrate on getting my reports published correctly in my webpages. As mentioned in my new thread I am struggeling with the resonsiveness of the JSAPI frame. If you have time I am anxious to know if there is a way to make the frame responsive.</p>
