Report - 2 columns - headers vertical not horizontal
Nuladie
<p>Is there a way to create a report where the headers are vertical, not horizontal? A report containing only 2 columns, the first column on the left to contain the field names, the second column to contain the field's data.</p>

<p>Yes, there is always a way (or more) in BIRT.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>What version of BIRT (OS or Commercial) are you using?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>What is your data source?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>What does your incoming data look like? Is there a sample table that you can include?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>So that we are on the same page, what should the expected output of the sample look like?</p>

<p>I am using the Open Source Birt ( Eclipse IDE for Java and Report Developers, Version: Mars Release (4.5.0)</p>
<div>Build id: 20150621-1200), Just installed it on my Windows 7 PC a couple of days ago. I am pulling data from a mySQL database on my web host's server. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>The view created for the report looks like:</div>
<div>SELECT S.StateAutoNo,</div>
<div>S.STATEABBR,</div>
<div>S.STATENAME as 'State Name', </div>
<div>L.STATELICNAME as 'License', </div>
<div>L.STATELICALCTYPE as 'Alc Type', </div>
<div>L.STATELICBEGINMONTH as 'Start Month', </div>
<div>L.STATELICENDMONTH as 'End Month',</div>
<div>L.STATELICFEE as 'Fee',</div>
<div>L.STATELICTERM as 'Term',</div>
<div>L.STATELICBRANDREG as 'Brand Reg?',</div>
<div>L.STATELICDIST as 'Dist Reg?',</div>
<div>L.STATELICTERR as 'Territory Reg?',</div>
<div>L.STATELICNOTES as 'Notes',</div>
<div>L.STATELICONLINE as 'License Online?',</div>
<div>L.STATELICWEBADDR as 'Website Addr',</div>
<div>L.STATELICAUTONO</div>
<div>FROM StateLic AS L</div>
<div> RIGHT OUTER JOIN State AS S</div>
<div>ON L.STATEAUTONO = S.STATEAUTONO </div>
<div> </div>
<div>The report should look like:</div>
<div>Column1 Column2</div>
<div>State State Name</div>
<div>License License Name</div>
<div>Product Type Product type desc</div>
<div>Fee $200.00</div>
<div>Term Year</div>
<div>Start Month 6</div>
<div>End Month 5</div>
<div>Brand Reg? True</div>
<div>Dist Reg? True</div>
<div>Terr Reg? False</div>
<div>Reg Online? True</div>

It's very simple. You can just create a table (or list) and in the detail row, create a grid, and drag your columns to from your Data Set into the grid.<br><br>
Attached is a sample. BTW, I didn't see a column for product type description.

<p>Thank you!</p>

<p>Another question. The column 1 with the HTML displays in the viewer. Column 2 with the field data does not display. Under the "Outline" perspective, if "Table" is selected, under "Properties" it does have the view's name.</p>

<p>Can you please attach a screenshot of what you are seeing?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Do you see data in any of the sections?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As a test, if you change the browser (<em>Windows > Preferences > General > Web Browsers</em>) to another web browser or preview in PDF, do you see missing data?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Here is a screenshot from the sample design and it display the data in all three sections. Was tested in IE, Chrome, and Firefox, and all work as expected.</p>

<p>Thank you, it is working.</p>
