Is it possible to set categoryData of a pie chart to a global variable in Edit Chart->Script->Interactivity->Y Series?

What are you wanting to use that global variable for?
 
Scripting happening in the interactivity for the y-series is going to be client side script that executes within the browser so you could set the value to a gloabl JS variable.

I want to save the categoryData in a global variable when a pie slice is clicked and later use this global variable as a filter for another chart in the report like below:
 
Edit Chart->Select Data->Filters->Add-> "Some Column Name" equals "Global Variable".
 
Can you please let me know the script used to set the global variable in y-series chart script?
