Hi,

Take a look at this <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='

hi Perre,

Thanks for your answer.

I have gone through the newspaper rptdesign. I have not understood it completly. In the outer table footer there are 3 tables inserted.

on table one filtering, the following code is written

pageBreakInterval = 21;
blockNumber = Math.floor(row.__rownum / pageBreakInterval) + 1;
totalColumns = 3;
columnNumber = 1;
((blockNumber - columnNumber) >= 0) && (((blockNumber - columnNumber) % totalColumns) == 0)

on table-2 filter the following code is written

pageBreakInterval = 21;
blockNumber = Math.floor(row.__rownum / pageBreakInterval) + 1;
totalColumns = 3;
columnNumber = 2;
((blockNumber - columnNumber) >= 0) && (((blockNumber - columnNumber) % totalColumns) == 0)

on table-3 filter the following code is written

pageBreakInterval = 21;
blockNumber = Math.floor(row.__rownum / pageBreakInterval) + 1;
totalColumns = 3;
columnNumber = 3;
((blockNumber - columnNumber) >= 0) && (((blockNumber - columnNumber) % totalColumns) == 0)

hi with the above code in 3 table filters i guess the first table will be filled with first 21 records and the next 21 records will be filled in the second table and the next to next 21 records will be filled in the third table. Is this right?

if it is the case why the three tables are kept in the footer of the outer table? please help me understand this.

Hi,

The technique is pretty well explained in the report design. What the code does is establish the condition, as expressed in the last line of the snippet, when the rows from the data set will be displayed.

Hi Pierre,

I have edited the post. Please read it carefully and help me.

I am not the author of this devshare! But I will still try to explain the logic here.

The data set is bound only to the outer table, meaning that the three tables inside the footer area of the outer table will inherit the data from the outer table. When the outer table's footer is instantiated, it has access to all the rows from the data set. In fact, if you were to remove the filter condition on the inner table, all the rows would be displayed. By applying the filter, each inner table displays only a portion on the entire data set. It is basically arithmetic on page break intervals and number of columns.

Your best bet is to deconstruct the example a bit. You will be able to figure out how it works!

Thank you so much Pierre. I will experiment on that.
