Add dynamic image to report from url
flatbirt

Hello to all,

I`am a BIRT beginner and was wondering if its possible to add a daynamic image to report:

I want to pass a parameter to a url that is going to create the image on a webserver and then get the image back by bytestream. Finally I want to add it to the report.

Another Possibility would be to get the already prepared url from database by parameter and then pass it to a script and get back the image.

Is that possible?

Is there a way to pass the URL from database to a script within BIRT?

Or am I on the wrong track and it should be done otherwise?

Thanks for reading and Greetings,

Welcome to the BIRT community. Anything is possible with BIRT.

You can use dynamic images with BIRT. What's are the overall requirements for your project? Is the end result only going to be viewed over the web, or is there PDF output?

The first attached example illustrates using a parameter changing the image retrieved from a dynamic image generator @
http://dummyimage.com. The
parameter is the color of the background (2nd option in the URI).

The second example illustrates a dynamic IMG with SRC defined as a Base64 Data URI, in the format:

[<mime type>][;charset=<charset>][;base64],<encoded data>

Thanks Clement Wong. Your examples helped me a lot getting deeper into BIRT.
