Export BIRT v4.5 Report to BIRT v2.5?

Is it possible (and reliable) to export reports created with BIRT v4.5 to BIRT v2.5?
 
I have BIRT v4.5, but we have an old government site with BIRT v2.5, and I'd really like to avoid installing more software on my PC.
 
With BIRT v4.5, I just grabbed the distribution, JDBC and off I went! With v2.5, the instructions I received, talk about tomcat, an old version of Java, and separate distributions for Eclipse and BIRT. I'm in a governement environment, so I'm already worried my poor laptop is going to "explode" from all the non-standard software!

A version 4.5 report is mostly likely going to have some big issues running in a version 2.5 environment. There have been some big changes since version 2.5 and anything you use in 4.5 that is different is going to have issues in 2.5.
 
The best option is going to be to use the version 2.5 designer to match the environment where the reports will be deployed to.

You may need to switch to pointing it to a version 1.6 JDK if your default java_home is something new like 1.8. Otherwise, it shouldn't need much to get going.
 
On a side note, I'm guessing this is probably out of your control, but 2.5 is a rather old release at this point (from 2009) and it would be good to look towards upgrading to a newer version.
