Esc sequence with Troy Printer

I'm trying to use BIRT to print checks on a Troy printer. 
It has a signature chip that uses a ESC sequence to print the signature and the MICR numbers.
 
Has anyone done anything like this? 
 
The signature prints when using the test page they send me. But I can not copy the ESC code and get it to work.
 
Any help is appreciated.

I've not seen anything specific to using a signature chip with printing and BIRT.

The troy printer company tech support sent me a test page that works from a Word Document.
The problem is that I can not recreate the line of code. I also can not copy and paste it and make it work in another Word Doc.
 
The line of code they sent me looks like this except the <esc> should be the actually escape sequence. I got conflicting info from 2 different techs so I'm not really sure how this works.

Unfortunately, I think getting a clear answer on the code used from their tech support is going to be the key. The fact that you cannot even transpose it from one word doc to another means it's highly unlikely we'll get a different result here.
 
If you can figure out a way to get the code working to be moved to a new word document, then it should be possible to use the same thing to insert it into the document output generated by BIRT.
