OD error
JvdW
Hi,
TS552 on W2K
OD560
Has anyone encountered this error before in OD:
:
client: Sending [.\images\out_photo_res.jpg] [reason file_list] ERROR: File(Y:\default\main\internet\ls\eur\che_de\prof\aa\outdoor\EDITION\ed_0001\images\out_photo_res.jpg) failure: bytes-read=-1 bytes-expected=4255.
:
We sometimes get this error when there is a lot of OD traffic. When it occurs, the system hangs up and we have to reboot. It is a filelist deployment to a local directory.
regards,
JvdW

Do you mean the Windows system gets hung up, or the OD process?
Can you recreate the problem when running the same number of deployments from a filesystem directory rather than a TeamSite edition? Just trying to narrow it down to an OD issue or a TS-OD interaction issue.

Hi Todd,
It's the Windows system which hangs, and therefore also the OD process.
In order to do date checking and some other stuff we first do a filelist deployment from an edition to the filesystem and after that a directory comparison deployment from the filesystem to the webserver. Usually it's the first one that will hang, but when it happens a lot of deployments are running. When one of them hangs, all the next ones will also hang, the windows process explorer.exe will hang and we have to reboot to make things run smoothly again.
I noticed that the last time this happens at the same moment some users tried to import files using the launchpad (java.exe?)
I hope this info helps. By the way I also opened a case at tech support for this.

How are you launching the deployments? Via TeamSite workflow?

The deployment config files are generated on the fly by a custom menu item. The latest edition of the current branch will be deployed and the user can also choose to include the underlying subbranches in the deployment. This will result in one deployment file for each branch.

I'm not sure if it's related, but there's a known issue with TeamSite workflows kicking off external tasks (such as iwodstart), which sometimes causes too many file descriptors to get consumed.
You may want to check with Tech Support on this one to see if your problem is related.
